On June 15, 2012, the Malaysian and Chinese governments clinched a deal for Feng Yi and Fu Wa to be loaned to Malaysia for 10 years to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries this year.
“We are hopeful that in the 10 years they are here, the pandas will breed and we can welcome another addition to the zoo, and we are confident they will be able to mate.

How much will it cost Malaysia to lease the two pandas, Fu Wa and Feng Yi, from China for 10 years?

 1) cost of building the exhibition area and the habitat in Zoo Negara for the pandas at RM24.9 million

 2) leasing two pandas for 10 years, the bill for leasing alone may come up to US$20 million(approx RM 70 Million)

"Koleksi gambar-gambar di bawah diimbas dari poskad yang banyak dijual di Sarawak tahun 60an. Siapa yang tak pernah membeli poskad sedemikian bila berkunjung ke Sarawak, entahlah…rasanya lebai yang berjubah dan bersarban pun terliur.Kepada kaum asli Sarawak zaman itu, ‘topless’ adalah budaya mereka."

Tucktoo Lizard (Tokek) can cure HIV / AIDS ?

 JOHOR BARU: A 40-year-old man’s attempt to smuggle five Tucktoo lizards (tokek) worth an estimated RM85,000 was thwarted by authorities here.
 The man, an Indonesian national, was detained at the Customs and Immigration checkpoint here at the Stulang Laut Ferry terminal at about 6.30pm on Sunday.
  Further investigations revealed that the lizards were meant for sale here. A single lizard could be sold for as much as RM35,000 due to its supposedly medicinal properties.(thestar.com.my/news/story)

Sabahans swept the Ford Models Supermodel of the World Search Malaysia 2011 by producing eight out of the 24 semi-finalists, the largest number so far from a single state. After 5 exotic sarawak lass picked for Semi-Finalist.

“We came here hoping to find four or five semi-finalists and it is extremely fulfilling to be able to leave Kota Kinabalu with an unexpected eight which makes up one-third of the semi-finalists,”said Organising Chairman.


“On top of that, they comprise a cross-section of ethnic groups, something we have been advocating from the start – that we are looking for a true, all-Malaysian girl.

“It would appear that the East Malaysians (Sarawak produced five semi-finalists) are going to give the girls from the capital city a serious run for their money,” Yeoh said.

The eight semi-finalists from Sabah are from the Bajau, Visaya Dusun, Sino Kadazan, Runggus and Banjar ethnic groups.

They are Nazarah Nicolous, 23, Iyliana John, 20, Atika Karim, 18, Hafizzah Karim, 25, Jassinta Mirasol, 23, Joey Yong, 17, Nur Jawaheer, 23, and Audrey Mu, 24.

    Crocodylus porosus, the scientific name for Sarawakian salt water crocodiles,"appear uncommonly to feed on large vertebrates and almost certainly have no special taste for human flesh," according to Jack Cox and Francis Gombek in a joint report following the survey on crocodiles in Sarawak for the World Wildlife Fund Malaysia in 1985


After surveying 1043 km of rivers and spotting only 56 saltwater crocodiles Cox and Gombek in their report concluded,
"...crocodiles have a right at to at least some habitat. After all, they have been swimming around Sarawak swamps for 60 million years. What right can humans,who have coexisted with them for only the past few thousand years, profess to exterminate them? As an especially unique and endangered part of the State's natural heritage it would be a major loss if crocodiles were allowed to disappear from the wilds."
